Rainwater Barrels for Sale in Watauga & Ashe Counties: Orders due Friday, April 3

Rainwater is a high quality source of water available to us. Rainwater that is collected on roofs and stored appropriately represents a sustainable source of water. This water is ideal for various uses inside and outside the home. When rainwater is used for toilet flushing, laundry, and garden purposes, it can reduce water consumption in a typical household by as much as 70%. How do you capture this rainwater? Install a rain harvesting system. One of the easiest and affordable ways to do this is by installing an above-ground rain barrel. Help the environment, and help your water bill!

Watauga and Ashe County Cooperative Extensions, and partners are putting together a Rain Barrel Sale for the residents of Watauga County. People must pre order and pre pay by Friday April 3rd. Please stop by either Cooperative Extension office (971 West King Street in Boone or 134 Government Circle in Jefferson). These barrels are manufactured in North Carolina out of 100% recycled plastic. They are black, which reduces any algae issues, have 2 spigot locations and 2 overflow options. They are mosquito proof and have a 3 year warranty. They will cost $90 and they are easy to assemble. These barrels sell online for $149 (See the exact model at rainwatersolutions.com). Because we are purchasing in bulk we are getting big savings that we can pass along to the community. For more information call 828-264-3061(Watauga Cooperative Extension) or 336-846-5850. The rain barrels will be delivered to Watauga County around April 22, and to Ashe County around April 24.
